I wasn’t going to admit this, but I don’t always like cleaning! #Relatable I have my moments where I am in my element of organising and cleaning and doing chores, but I mean, who really enjoys cleaning that much? Well, maybe when we have the right tools to clean with, it makes things a little bit more fun! CHUX sent me the CUTEST package and I actually was excited to try out some of these goodies! OMG! Did I just become an adult?! The worst thing about any chore, is when you struggle to get it done and it takes way more time than is truly necessary. CHUX has you covered with all the basics and I am ready to take on more chores! Okay wait! Maybe not more, but I’m not hating the ones I simply have to do. We all do. What’s that ADULT saying people use? If you’re going to do it, do it right! Well with CHUX, I’m on the right track! It might just be the lazy kid in me saying this, but these goodies are a little too cute to actually use! They have such a wide variety of great quality products and like I said, CHUX makes it so much easier to get it done right!
Pretty sure from my recent pictures you can tell how much I enjoy vegan and vegetarian food. So when we went to the launch of the new Mythos Greek Restaurants in Rosebank Mall, we were spoiled with choice. Once we sat down, we were offered some drinks, and being non-alco’s we opted for Cola-tonic & Lemonade and Passion fruit & Lemonade and found a comfortable seat around the center where we could enjoy the beautiful, live music. Our waiter was an absolute gem! He checked if we were ready to eat and then proceeded to bring us a multitude of vegetarian plates with the most aesthetically pleasing food. We immediately started eating, and by immediate I mean, we took photo’s of our food for about five minutes, made sure we had a good shot, and then proceeded with the eating! LoL look at me being a #FoodBlogger The food was delicious and if I didn’t have such a weak appetite, I would probably have eaten everything! There were some things I tried for the first time and some things I have had before but found some new favourites. Like the sesame seed covered cheese bits…Oh my word! Currently craving some of those as I type this! I definitely will be heading back to one of the delicious Greek restaurants as often as I possibly can, I really enjoy their vegetarian options, I would have loved them even more if they were strictly halaal but hopefully in the future they will accommodate for us.
Just like my food, natural is what I search for when it comes to my skincare, hair-care and cosmetics as well. I am so excited that Oway has just launched in South Africa. Even more excited that I was invited to the launch party that was held at the sensational venue, Four Seasons Hotel at the Westcliff in Johannesburg. I am always early to arrive at events and this one time, we ended up getting there late! Missed out on some of the gorgeous photo ops at the venue. Also feel like we could have spent more time looking and testing at the beautiful products on display. There is something special about natural products and organic packaging that is recyclable as well, makes my heart sing with joy! I know that was some true tree-hugger talk right there, but I cannot express enough how happy I am that more brands are looking at being better to the environment. I have received the most incredible products and packages but when I look at the mess after unboxing, it makes me sad thinking about how much we waste and the price our beautiful Earth has to pay. I didn’t mean to go all dramatic on you all, but it is truly becoming a bigger problem with brands. They have these lavish packaging ideas and the person on the receiving end, just throws it out after opening. With OWAY, the brand has minimalistic packaging and opted for these beautiful glass jars that are easily reusable and so much better for the environment. They also have reusable bags, again minimizing their wastage. Now for more brands to follow suit. Also it was really fun to dress up and have a little fun! The only thing I am sad about it that we have to wait until May 2019 for the products to launch in stores. But I will definitely be giving it a try as soon as it does.
There is nothing better than having an opportunity to show support to your friends and I’ve missed more than enough of Daniel’s exhibits so I decided to get my girls together and take the long drive to Pretoria! We got welcomed by Daniel’s incredible family and friends and we greeted some mutual friends, got some drinks and proceeded to view the gallery. We were especially blown away by the many works of art that he’s done. More intrigued by his (dare I say it) crazy mind! I always thought we have to have a special kind of mind to appreciate art, but the beauty of invoking a feeling is what makes art what it is. Not the name, not that we all have to have the same feeling, but just that it invokes something within us! I think about my photography, or my writing and how I am able to mold the words, or even edit a photo, but after seeing Dani’s art, I got to a realization of how daunting it must be to create an expression from in your mind, how daunting it must be to allow people to see the parts that is hidden in your mind. Whether they will accept it or understand it, but the comfort of knowing and being okay with the fact that they do not have to! Art is You You are Art.
Talent is such a special thing, so creative in its own way. It could have similarities but at the end of the day, it’s unique to each of us. Sometimes we get used to our own talents, that they don’t seem as special anymore. But we need to start realising that we are a lot more special than we give ourselves credit for. I love how artists inteprets the things they see. And a long time ago, Aaisha mentioned to me that she draws, and I remember the day she sent me a photo she had drawn of me! I felt so special. She didn’t’ think anything of it but fast-forward a few months later, I was pleasantly surprised when she tagged me on a photo of a t-shirt she had made with my face and blog name on it!!! It wasn’t only that my face was drawn on a t-shirt, but rather that she found that little spark within herself to pursue her dreams! She finally realised that she had a unique talent and that she believed in herself enough to create something special. Me being a part of her dream is what made this so much more beautiful to me and I truly believe that she will prosper in this journey. God Willing. #GirlsSupportingGirls If you would like to buy this limited edition Bonafide tee, please head over to my online store. She is located in Cape Town but she will be shipping nationwide. Also, please do give her a follow HERE because she makes more than just t-shirts. If you do purchase the Bonafide t-shirts, please tag me because it would make my day seeing you all with my face on your chests! haha
Abstract art is so intense, it takes my mind on a journey! I sometimes wish I could create some of the stuff I see, or some of the images in my mind. I applaud the artists out there that use their abilities to allow others to go on a journey with them, to experience and share in the moments that are special to them. Nova Woolf is quite special, from the statement pieces with actual words flying around in a beautiful dance to create actual pictures! Like, how even does your mind fathom this? There were some pieces that ‘spoke’ to me.
Have you ever showed up to an event on the date you were supposed to RSVP by, and not actually the date of the event? Well, I HAVE! I read the invite wrong, dressed up, hailed an Uber and off we went to the event. When we got there, we were told there was an event but that the one we were supposed to attend was actually only happening the next evening! I was shook but they were kind enough to allow us to crash the event. Turned out to be an exclusive New Balance Launch for the #997H sneaker and we got to meet some really cool people.
I have a friend that never really liked working out but she loved being out in nature and walking. She made a pact to herself that she will make an effort to go hiking as often as she possibly could, signed up for 5km walks and social walking events, and she not only made a bunch of new friends, felt healthy & fit…but she also transformed her body completely! She has inspired me with her incredible journey and I would like to add this to our social club events as well. We would like to go on weekly hikes or as often as possible and to try and find beautiful places in our city and beyond. We started with one of my favorite places, got some friends and family together and we went on the most beautiful hike at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens in Roodepoort, JHB. We ended our hike off with some garden games, like Twister and had a lovely picnic with our special people. We have been researching some more places and I look forward to many more hikes in nature. Nature gives me a truly special feeling that cannot even be explained or described, it simply has to be felt. If you would like to join us on our adventures, be sure to Like our Facebook Page and keep an eye out for our next event. We will also be posting an event calendar to our pages, so be sure to check it out.
The Zone in Rosebank has this insane HALO game machine that my family cannot seem to get enough of! It is a monsterous machine that allows us to all four play together. It is loud and somewhat caved in, creating a cave of some sort. We basically get so engulfed in the game that we forget we are in the middle of an arcade! We spend way too much on the game already but it is addictive! We finished the whole game and went on the record board every time we’ve played. We are total geeks and even enquired about purchasing that actual machine to set it up at our house! The boys absolutely love the game and shooting aliens together as a family is kind of the coolest, most badass way to bond as a family! I’m just saying, if there ever was a zombie apocalypse, it is important to know that your family will have your back and not die off in the first wave! We also usually go on the bumping cars before grabbing something to eat and of course some dessert and then head home, yet the kids feel as though we’ve conquered worlds! And that right there, is priceless!
Have you stopped to realize that it’s already March? I remember celebrating the new year, just a moment ago! Time is escaping me. But here are a few of the moments I would like to share with all of you…and by all of you I mean my one fan reading this, hey mom! JANUARY Well I’m not sure I have much to share about January because though some people were complaining it was too long, it flew by for me. I ended January off with an Ancient Health Care Chinese massage and dry cupping. It gave me the much needed relaxation and energy I needed for the months that lie ahead. Also I uploaded a few other posts in January, so please do check them out. Spend some time on my blog today, I’m pretty sure there could be a few things that may interest you 😉 FEBRUARY My plan to be more fit was still going strong and believe it or not, I actually feel somewhat different in just the few weeks of actively trying to make healthier decisions, I feel a difference in my overall wellness. Still slowly stretching into my split and I think we’re getting somewhere! My skin is also starting to feel so much better. Could be the fact that I’ve stopped wearing foundation and heavier cosmetics but overall it just feels so much healthier. I’ve attended a bunch of events recently and even though I am constantly complaining about not getting sufficient rest, I’ve been having so much fun! So incredibly grateful that my anxiety levels are balancing a little bit better. Nadia (my sister) and I went to a beautiful wedding and we got to dress up and be out in the wilderness for a bit, and it’s always fun catching up with some friends. I done Nadia’s makeup and one of her friends saw the luck we struck and asked that I do her makeup for an event she attended… Now somehow people think I’m half-good! I’ve had some requests! I’m pretty much ready to beat some faces! Let’s do this thing LoL! We’ve also decided that being in nature once in a while is simply not enough, so we aim to go on a beautiful, nature hike as often as possible, maybe even every week! But now that we’re all caught up, keep an eye out for some of my posts as I share some of the fun stuff I’ve been up to. But enough about me, what have you been up to?
