SK Outdoor Movie Experience – Rampage – with Stef

With the end of Summer at its peak, Ster-Kinekor couldn’t have capitalized on a better time for their big outdoor movie experience and premier of The Rock’s latest film, Rampage. The premier event was well attended with families, couples and friends coming out in for a relaxing and enjoyable social evening under the stars.
For some of us that was fortunate to experience the VIP treatment, it was more than an added benefit.

All-inclusive thirst-quenching drinks, pallet tickling appetizers and free popcorn combos are just some of the amazing items that was part of our VIP package. A definite “must have” for the next show.

The event was very well organised, all movie goers where given a wrist strap upon entry. There were plenty of activities before the movie started that kept the audience entertained with spot prizes for people who dared nominate themselves for a bit of competition amongst the crowd. The soft grass pitch surrounding the stadium accommodated the large crowd with ease, mostly because of the strategic layout plan executed by the organisers. The movie started at 8pm, shortly before the sun set but this is definitely the kind of event that you need to get to super early in order to secure a good space.

Nothing feels more like a summer evening to me than watching a movie in an open space on a picnic blanket under the stars. Although I have been to outdoor movies before, each event is unique in its own way.

We watched the premier of Rampage, a 2018 American science fiction monster film directed by Brad Peyton, and loosely based on the video game series of the same name by Midway Games.

The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, Jake Lacy, Joe Manganiello, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

he film follows a primatologist named Davis Okoye, who must team up with George, a white gorilla who turns into a raging creature of enormous size following a rogue experiment, in order to stop two other giant monsters a flying wolf and a gigantic alligator.

Overall the experience was fun, the VIP treatment felt special and a tick on the bucket list for the next event.

Thanks SK for the experience.

Global icon Dwayne Johnson headlines the action adventure “Rampage,” directed by Brad Peyton.

Johnson stars as primatologist Davis Okoye, a man who keeps people at a distance but shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, incredibly rare albino silverback gorilla who has been in his care since he rescued the young orphan from poachers.  But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size.
To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered animals.  As these newly created alpha predators tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with discredited geneticist Kate Caldwell (Naomie Harris) to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.

“Rampage” also stars Oscar nominee Naomie Harris (“Moonlight”), Malin Akerman (TV’s “Billions”), Jake Lacy (TV’s “Girls”), Joe Manganiello (TV’s “True Blood”), and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (TV’s “The Walking Dead”); as well as P.J. Byrne (“The Wolf of Wall Street”), Marley Shelton (TV’s “Rise”), Breanne Hill (TV’s “Frontier”), Jack Quaid (“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”), Matt Gerald (TV’s “Daredevil”), Jason Liles (“Death Note”), Demetrius Grosse (TV’s “The Brave”), and Will Yun Lee (TV’s “Hawaii Five-O”).

Peyton directed from a screenplay by Ryan Engle and Carlton Cuse & Ryan J. Condal and Adam Sztykiel, story by Ryan Engle.

The creative team includes director of photography Jaron Presant, production designer Barry Chusid, editors Jim May and Bob Ducsay, and costume designer Melissa Bruning.  The music is composed by Andrew Lockington, who created the scores for “San Andreas” and “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.”  Serving as co-producers were Wendy Jacobson, Josh Mack and Dana Robin.
