It’s been over a year since I last sat down to write a blog post or even picked up my camera and I think it’s about time to start sharing life with you all again. I’ve missed you so much and now that life is finally settling down again, I thought it would be the perfect time to catch you all up… So here goes:
I’ve become a “Hijaabi”
As some of you know, it is a compulsory practice for all Muslims to cover their private parts, this includes the covering of a woman’s hair. It has been a few months since my transition and it has truly felt like a blessing. It was a long time coming and starting with dressing more modestly over the last few years, to covering my hair as well over the last few months. Ramadaan is our most sacred month and it dawned on me at the very beginning of our blessed month, that it was finally time.
With everything happening in the world and what feels like a whole new age, it matured me to realise what is important in life and what has never been.
I am excited to share my highlights and challenges with you about my transition and would love to tackle any of your questions along the way.
Family Update
There have been quite a bit of celebrations and challenges in the family these last few months, from health scares to successes Algamdoelillah but I will share more about this over the next few blog posts and YouTube videos.
Nadia and the boys were down in Cape Town for some much needed R&R and for one of the biggest celebrations of my life! Will tell you all about it soon.
My mom has been in and out of the hospital since 2020 and this year even more so, she is due for surgery next week but her overall health has been in pretty stable condition recently.
After Duke’s cancer growth and stroke, he had surgery to remove the lump and is seemingly happier and healthier than ever.
Work & Studies
I recently moved to a new team and I have slowly been settling into a more comfortable and happy space in my career. Feeling incredibly grateful for the many moves and shuffling.
Also how am I in my final year of my uni degree?? So crazy to me! Things have been an absolute joke trying to find time to juggle it all but somehow there is a light shining down on me and I’ve actually managed to keep up. This semester has been the biggest struggle as I haven’t found any time to prioritize my studies, but hoping that this month changes all of that.
Home
I’m excited to share that I moved into my more permanent home in Cape Town. It’s been a little over a year now and it feels more and more like home every day. I am forever grateful to the people who allowed me to rent their home when I moved to Cape Town because my life would never have been the same without them. Fast-forward to three years in Cape Town and I’m in my own home and creating a life I never imagined I could in such a short time.
Renovations
I’m excited to have shared some of the renovation with you on social media so far, there have been so many changes to the house and it just feels like home in every aspect of it. We have done so many of the renovations by ourselves and it was more fun than we care to admit. From absolutely trashing our place to creating it on almost a clean slate it is the most rewarding journey you could ever go on as a couple…. Yes, I said couple….
I GOT MARRIED!!!
So it’s been a month since I married the love of my life! I can’t believe I have a husband. You guys know me, I have always been the career girlie who was never interested in getting married and starting a family. But I cannot wait to share this incredible journey with you. Life has just felt fulfilling in a different way and I am so thrilled that I opened myself up to experiencing this. I am excited to share it all with you and being the cheesy couple that we are, we’ve decided to document our life and share it with you on my new rebranded YouTube channel. We want to share about our proposal, our wedding day, and our honeymoon which was an absolute thrilling adventure.

The brand has grown so much over the last few months and we have been living in the merch especially in the chilly Cape Town weather. The best part of having super soft, luxurious hoodies is that with the crazy bipolar weather, we get to wear them all year round and trust me, you’re going to want to!
