My Summer Detox – Should have been carried out in Winter- Ooops!

As I’m sure you all know, I’ve been on an ongoing, I don’t really want to call it a struggle, but in two minds about my weight.

On one hand, I feel that society cannot define beauty by how heavy I am or what a BMI number states. But on the other hand, I actually feel too heavy for my petite frame.

The moment I feel like I’m too tired, weak or lazy, I know I have to do something about it. I have been slacking a bit at the gym, not only because of that serious lack of motivation but because I have been working on my brand a lot recently.

So this week, mom and I decided to go on a detox. With this detox, we are not allowed

-Sugar

-Dairy

-Red Meat

-Starch / Cards (breads, potatoes, etc.)

-Tea/ Coffee

So basically what we’re allowed is water (at least 3litres) and a protein (chicken, fish & eggs) salads, and fruit & vegetables.

We have to have to have a maximum of three fruits in the morning, separated by an hour each and water in between each fruit. Also no mixing fruits.

For lunch and dinner we have to have either a salad of some veggies and about half an hour thereafter we are allowed one protein. We are not allowed any water during any meals or snack times. But we have to drink at least 2,5ltrs every day.

Because we are looking to become healthier and hopefully lose weight with a healthier lifestyle instead of a quick diet, we really think adjusting our way of eating is important. We already live a pretty healthy lifestyle so it wasn’t too big of an adjustment for us.

For me though, I have a sweet tooth, so the chocolate and coffee was something I particularly craved for.  After a while I stopped craving sugar and started feeling slightly less lazy. Just felt lighter overall.

Sunday, mom and I decided we are going to have a little treat on Sunday, after being so good this week, and we stopped at this incredible bakery on the way to my sister’s house. I picked up a few miniature cakes for the family and because I couldn’y decide between the ganache and the bar-one, instead of having two, I decided to have half of each.

I swear tasting this incredibly soft, moist, chocolate cake was so satisfying! The cakes are sooooo fresh and I swear I could go on about how amazing this little treat was!

It was so satisfying that I am even more motivated to keep going on this detox. The detox is actually supposed to last for about ten days, and the last time we did it, we each lost over five kilograms in the ten days!

This time, we are doing the detox slightly different but still maintaining the majority of the detox rules. I definitely feel that it’s time to also kick it back in the gym so that I can reach my goals quicker.

This time around I am not setting goals to reach a certain weight. I am going entirely with how I’m feeling getting my fitness levels where I want them to be.

The thing I believe in strongly, is that, we cannot put so much pressure on ourselves, that we become depressed when we do not reach these potential goals. Life is a journey, and it should be our goal to find happiness and to maintain that joy each day.
