Tribute – Kina Grannis – Happy 10 Year YouTube Anniversary

First of all, it’s been 10 years!!! A very very happy YouTube anniversary to Kina Grannis.

Hope that there will be decades more of music from KG Records.

There is something about people living their lives following their passions. It is like spreading light in the most incredibly natural way.

Kina Grannis is one of the most authentic artists in an industry, that will alter every atom of a person. Knowing who you are and where you come from is important but what is also extremely important is knowing where you’re headed.

Okay we can’t know that, exactly, but we could aim to reach those places in the best ways possible. When we find comfort in our little insecurities we learn to love ourselves so deeply. Nothing that society is expecting is important as some seem to make it.

With humility and her quirky charm, Kina has won the hearts of so many people around the world, including mine, of course.

Even with her hugely growing following, Kina still responds to tweets, and comments made on her videos, throughout the years. The most incredibly real, creative, quality videos is the easiest thing to listen to. I very often play Kina around the house and while writing blog posts because her gentle, soothing voice is second to none. Her voice and songs inspire me to write more, not sure how that works, but it just does.

One of the scariest things in life is risking your time following your dreams, or a crazy idea, because it is time that you can never get back, but following Kina, living her dream and passions so beautifully and gratefully makes the risks seem somewhat worth it. Trusting your gut and going with your authenticity instead of what society or a record label wants is surely taking the harder way out, and yet, to remain herself entirely is exactly what she did.

I am so happy that she decided not to sign to a record label, I feel like in some way society has a specific mold when it comes to style, image, sound and in parts… type of starlette.. and Kina, thankfully, doesn’t fit into any of them.

She has such a clear style and sound and it’s refreshing. I have been such a huge fan of Kina and I think it is a complete shock that so many people don’t know her music.

She does covers so good that it sounds like a complete different, sometimes better song!

Please head over to her pages and show her some love. You can thank me later.

She has a pretty cool website

She has a merch page, where you can find a bunch of her amazing pieces.

You could join KG Records Fam

Also here are a few of my favourite KG songs:

My Dear

The Fire

Beth

Valentine

In Your Arms

Write it in the Sky

When Will I Learn

Without Me

Souvenirs

The entire Elements album,

… Okay I should just list ALL her songs.

And some of my favourite covers:

Royals- Lorde,

Stay- Rihanna ft Mikky Ekko,

Home – Phillip Phillips,

I knew This Would be Love – Imaginary Future,

Issues- Julia Michaels,

The Middle- Jimmy Eat World,

A Case of You- Joni Mitchell

So I would really list every song here, over 400 videos in 10 years and there’s probably less than a handful that I wasn’t complete in awe about.
