World Smile Day with Lindt SA & Maps Maponyane
I was overjoyed when the invitation to the Lindt SA event reached my inbox. One, because I am a supporter of The Smile Foundation, two, because there was a Walk and three, because… Chocolate!
I am a little whimp when it comes to JHB CBD so I was a little uneasy about attending and parking. I have quite a bit of experience in getting lost WITH my GPS in the city! However, my GPS was good to me and I managed to find the secure parking pretty easily.
Right off the bat I met two really incredible ladies that made me all the more excited to be there. Ntiyiso is probably the luckiest person I know, not only because she won her access to this event but because she wins almost every competition she enters!
Somehow I am the worst blogger ever, because my phone battery was completely empty when I arrived! I did have my action camera, and recorded some really cool footage. I will upload the vlog soon, if you guys are keen to see it.
Ntiyiso and Nomsa were kind enough to take a bunch of pictures of me throughout the entire day. I also met a whole bunch of really cool people, snapping pics together and sending them onto me to use for my social media. Yay! A special thank you to each of you!!
I’ve seen Maps Maponyane at several events but we hadn’t officially met before this. What an awesome, humble person!
We all hung out and had the most chilled time, learning about the city on the walk, eating chocolate and networking some seriously exceptional people.
Even ended up taking some really awesome photographs with the amazing photographer: @freakonthecamera
I absolutely love his creativity and style of shooting. Please check him out and show him some love!
The walk ought to have been 2km, but I’m sure it was a lot more, but I was completely in my element with all the photo-ops and Instagram worthy places and museums we stopped at along the way. What I took from this walk was that Johannesburg is not only beautiful but also have some of the best artists!
Everyone was super lowkey and I had the best time! At the end of our walk, we had a chocolate making class!!! I don’t think there could have been anything better! We had huge bowls of warm melted chocolate, a few toppings and prepped truffles where we each made the freshest truffles.
I think I need a moment to appreciate the fact that we dipped both hands and scooped a bucket load of melted Lindt chocolate! (Don’t worry, we wore gloves, so it was completed okay to do this).
We left with more chocolate than we should naturally eat but we deserved it after our lovely city walk. Okay, we can never have too much chocolate!!!
Thank you LindtSA and to all my new friends for making my chocolate eating day all that much more special.
