Have you ever showed up to an event on the date you were supposed to RSVP by, and not actually the date of the event? Well, I HAVE! I read the invite wrong, dressed up, hailed an Uber and off we went to the event. When we got there, we were told there was an event but that the one we were supposed to attend was actually only happening the next evening! I was shook but they were kind enough to allow us to crash the event. Turned out to be an exclusive New Balance Launch for the #997H sneaker and we got to meet some really cool people.
I have a friend that never really liked working out but she loved being out in nature and walking. She made a pact to herself that she will make an effort to go hiking as often as she possibly could, signed up for 5km walks and social walking events, and she not only made a bunch of new friends, felt healthy & fit…but she also transformed her body completely! She has inspired me with her incredible journey and I would like to add this to our social club events as well. We would like to go on weekly hikes or as often as possible and to try and find beautiful places in our city and beyond. We started with one of my favorite places, got some friends and family together and we went on the most beautiful hike at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens in Roodepoort, JHB. We ended our hike off with some garden games, like Twister and had a lovely picnic with our special people. We have been researching some more places and I look forward to many more hikes in nature. Nature gives me a truly special feeling that cannot even be explained or described, it simply has to be felt. If you would like to join us on our adventures, be sure to Like our Facebook Page and keep an eye out for our next event. We will also be posting an event calendar to our pages, so be sure to check it out.
The Zone in Rosebank has this insane HALO game machine that my family cannot seem to get enough of! It is a monsterous machine that allows us to all four play together. It is loud and somewhat caved in, creating a cave of some sort. We basically get so engulfed in the game that we forget we are in the middle of an arcade! We spend way too much on the game already but it is addictive! We finished the whole game and went on the record board every time we’ve played. We are total geeks and even enquired about purchasing that actual machine to set it up at our house! The boys absolutely love the game and shooting aliens together as a family is kind of the coolest, most badass way to bond as a family! I’m just saying, if there ever was a zombie apocalypse, it is important to know that your family will have your back and not die off in the first wave! We also usually go on the bumping cars before grabbing something to eat and of course some dessert and then head home, yet the kids feel as though we’ve conquered worlds! And that right there, is priceless!
My favorite events are the ones I get to take my family with me, and The Lego Movie 2 just came out, and after watching The Bucket List Family on YouTube, I was even more excited to go to the premiere of the movie with my sister and two nephews. Also, the boys mentioned that they love going to the events with me because it is always an experience to enjoy the festivities before the movie even starts. The had a few stations for the kids to enjoy. There were a few video game stations and Lego tables and there was a cool little photo-booth where we took a few photos and then headed into the movie. I really enjoy the dry, somewhat dark humour in the Lego movies because it flies completely over the kid’s heads but the adults can also enjoy it. The boys had a ton of fun and it’s a little hard to explain without giving away the plot of the film, but I will say the first movie was better than the sequel.
Have you stopped to realize that it’s already March? I remember celebrating the new year, just a moment ago! Time is escaping me. But here are a few of the moments I would like to share with all of you…and by all of you I mean my one fan reading this, hey mom! JANUARY Well I’m not sure I have much to share about January because though some people were complaining it was too long, it flew by for me. I ended January off with an Ancient Health Care Chinese massage and dry cupping. It gave me the much needed relaxation and energy I needed for the months that lie ahead. Also I uploaded a few other posts in January, so please do check them out. Spend some time on my blog today, I’m pretty sure there could be a few things that may interest you 😉 FEBRUARY My plan to be more fit was still going strong and believe it or not, I actually feel somewhat different in just the few weeks of actively trying to make healthier decisions, I feel a difference in my overall wellness. Still slowly stretching into my split and I think we’re getting somewhere! My skin is also starting to feel so much better. Could be the fact that I’ve stopped wearing foundation and heavier cosmetics but overall it just feels so much healthier. I’ve attended a bunch of events recently and even though I am constantly complaining about not getting sufficient rest, I’ve been having so much fun! So incredibly grateful that my anxiety levels are balancing a little bit better. Nadia (my sister) and I went to a beautiful wedding and we got to dress up and be out in the wilderness for a bit, and it’s always fun catching up with some friends. I done Nadia’s makeup and one of her friends saw the luck we struck and asked that I do her makeup for an event she attended… Now somehow people think I’m half-good! I’ve had some requests! I’m pretty much ready to beat some faces! Let’s do this thing LoL! We’ve also decided that being in nature once in a while is simply not enough, so we aim to go on a beautiful, nature hike as often as possible, maybe even every week! But now that we’re all caught up, keep an eye out for some of my posts as I share some of the fun stuff I’ve been up to. But enough about me, what have you been up to?
Had my brand new COMPLIMENTARY battery fitted and checked at @batterycentresa When I went to Battery Centre over the weekend, I showed my voucher to the store manager and they immediately made me feel comfortable, offered us a seat while we waited and they were incredibly friendly and thorough. The plate where my battery rests on was quite serverly rusted and with that my ‘earth’ cable was not fitting to the body of my car anymore, which I learnt is the reason why my car had been so sluggish recently. They immedinately offered to mount my earth cable somewhere else on the body of my car and explained a few things to me, under the hood of my car. I have never spent that much time looking under there, than I had on Saturday but I feel a lot more educated. Once he repaired the cable and mounted the brand new battery, I was good to go! And let me tell you, the difference was uncanny! My car was driving so much better and the battery was a lot more stable as well. I was taken aback by how incredibly passionate they were to go the extra mile and not just ‘fit a new battery’. The team at the Beyers Naude Drive branch made my ‘errand’ so much more than just that! They refused to take any payment even for the extra work and effort they’ve put into getting me to drive safer on the road. Their work ethic and people skills are like none other. So if you’re ever in Randburg and need a battery, please make your way to them. If you need a new battery, now is your chance!Bonafide Blog , in collaboration with the Battery Centre would love to give three lucky Bonafiders a complimentary battery as well! I realised today that I didn’t blog about my Cruise Ship experience! But I focussed more on the vlogs for my YouTube channel because it was more expressive. But I feel it is missing some of my thoughts going into it and even now, people still ask about it. The vlogs were short and sweet but I guess it wan’t enough..? My initial thoughts were NOT to go! I was kinda terrified of actually going on the ship because I watched Titannic, The MEG, Jaws and the thought of possible nausea had me shaken enough to decline the invite altogether. After seeing the ports we were going to dock and the places we get to explore, I started to rethink if I should really chicken out on a deal like this. Sat Venice (Italy) Sun Bari (Italy)Mon CruisingTue Pireaus/ Athens (Greece)Wed Katakolon/ Olympia (Greece)Thu Kotor (Montenegro)Fri Split (Croatia) It took a little bit of courage on my part but I HAD to go to these places! We decided to try out the Gautrain, for the first time, and it was a pretty awesome experience, apart from the hefty pricetag to the airport! We had some serious issues as our lugguage was not booked with our tickets through our agents. We almost missed our flight because the dragged out issues with resolving the problem. We literally looked like those passanges in the movies that run to their planes! It was probably my most stressful moment travelling. Anyway, we flew to Madrid, Spain. I watched a few movies on the plane as I couldn’t sleep on the plane, for some reason. I think I was still stressed out about the ship? When we landed in Madrid, we had some starbucks and a little snack before catching our flight to Venice, Italy. We then landed in Venice, took a bus to our hotel where we left our lugguage and went to get something to eat. We found a really nice halaal place, opposite our hotel, and the food was not only delicious but it was also affordable! It was pretty cold out but instead of staying in, we decided to hit the town. In 2016, the first time I went to Venice, we spend the entire day on the water, on boats, touring the islands but never experienced a gonadola ride. It was everything I hoped it would be, it was like experiencing the city as a true Venitian and we saw a bunch of homes and hotels along the ride. It’s amazing that a city like this, actually exists. We spoke to our guide about how much of a gift it is to have tourists always there to appreciate the beauty of his city. He told us about the good, humble life he lives with his family. He shared some interesting stories with us and if I hadn’t been careful I could have accepted his proposal to wed! LoL He was quite the charmer. We took some photos along the way and he also took some really good pics of us! I forgot to add how cold it became while the sun was setting and we ended up buying some fur scarves and ponchos just to save us from freezing. But I also didn’t want to ruin the photos so I stripped right before it was taken and then quickly put everything back on the minute the photo was taken. I reckon it was worth it. When the ride was over, we walked around and looked for the gelato shop we used to buy from when we were in Venice two years prior and we sadly couldn’t find it. But we found another one and we had two giant scoops of gelato in the icy weather because we couldn’t resist! Have you ever tried the lemon flavoured gelato in Italy? Trust me, it changes your life. LoL realising how dramatic that statement was. After walking around and shopping for random little things, we made our way back to the hotel. The bus ride was so packed because I’m pretty sure it was one of the last buses leaving the central side of Venice. We started talking about the crazy things we saw on the ride home, how full the bus was and yet people were squeezing themselves in, and just the cool, crazy life we all live. I had a good couple of butt-touches and shoves with people cramming themselves onto the bus. The bus driver giggled at the conversation a few times because we stood close to the exit door to make our quick escape when the time was right. Before we knew it, our time in Venice came to a close. We bought our memorabilia (snow globes) and headed to the port where we boarded our Costa Luminosa Cruise Ship. There was no turning back now! I was more nervous at this point and I think my mind made-believe I was getting nauseous but I doped up on anti-nausea pills and should be completely fine. You are more than welcome to watch my Venice vlog here. You will see my nerves in the video and also experience our quick stay in Venice in a more visual way.
I wanted to experience so many things in my life, because somehow not doing the same thing every weekend is the best thing ever! Growing up, I wanted to be a ton of stuff for the most random reasons ever! For example, bugs have always freaked me out, as much as I love nature, little insects is something I cannot get used to. I wanted to be a… *wait for it*…PESTBUSTER! haha Okay that was extreme but I’ve somehow decided that I don’t actually want to kill anything, regardless of how much of a pest they were, I couldn’t bring myself to kill anything. But I do have some cool things I want to try, like pottery! I know I am literally 84 years old with this one! But it would be something to try! I’ve also wanted to do adventurous things like skydiving or surfing and I’ve decided that I may not dedicate myself to a profession or a full-time hobby in any of these things, but atleast trying them, even once, could bring me some sort of satisfaction and closure. With this thought I’ve started doing a few really fun, awesome stuff and the best part is that there are others out there who are keen to try them with me. We have been on a few adventures already and I even created some vlogs for my YouTube channel which means it will forever be there for me to look back at these incredible memories I’ve created for myself. VLOG LINKS BELOW We tried out the HoneyDew Mazes and had the best time at the venue and having the girls and guys battle it out for who gets the most points. I have always wanted to be like Katy Perry, the OG Califonia Girl in roller skates, so we headed over to Roll Egoli with the family and had an absolute blast, and I have to add what a work out it actually was! I had ZERO makeup on by the end of it! We also took the family for some adventure golf in Fourways, but didn’t vlog it. The boys had an absolute blast! I am looking forward to the many adventures that awaits us this year. So many opportunities to experience things for the first time! The calendar for the events will be posted monthly, so we don’t miss out on anything!
What a fantastic production! I cannot say enough about how relatable this show is.. I may not be from Cape Town but being ‘coloured’ or ‘malay’ as we call it, it was as though it was based on our upbringing. There were so many things said in the dialogue of the show, that my family and friends use frequently and up until right now, I didn’t realise how funny it actually is! Marc Lottering was pretty sensational and all of the performers are so incredibly talented… I got chills a few times! I laughed out loud most of the time and upon leaving…we met a (caucasian) lady in the lift and she said “I’ve never wanted to be coloured, more than I do now!” I don’t know about you, but I think that was quite the statement! It pretty much sums up just how great the show was! I’m definitely taking my family to watch the show! It’s going to be showing at The Joburg Theatre for the next month, do yourself a favour and go and check it out. Also saw a bunch of old friends and family at the show and also met some new faces. I love times where we can interact with each other and create new memories. When we got back from the show I was trying out some ALIEN makeup looks because I’m sure we all know how obsessed I am with extra terrestrials!!! EXTRA being the operative word! I would like to create a few makeup looks in the coming months and add some tutorials to my YouTube channel. So keep an eye out for those if you’re keen to see me play around with some makeup.
I have always loved watching local movies because of the obvious relatable aspects. Three days before the film released in cinemas across the country, we had the pleasure of attending the premiere. The actors were all on the red carpet and we had the opportunity to snap photos with them, ask them any questions we may have had and really just enjoy in the celebrations on the films release, with the films cast and crew. The film had a great storyline and it was relatable on a ‘normal family drama’ sense but also pushing the boundaries of extremity. There were many moments and characters that stood out because you could relate but there were many things I felt played out exactly how I would assume they would should those things have happened in my family, but I cannot say I have ever experienced. There were a few things what I think would stand out in this film, that I never thought about before, like the cadarva being seen in so many of the scenes and the amount of time it was actually on screen. Or the dragged out scenes of the addictions in the film, but it was done in such a way that it invoked the emotions intended, beautifully. I also thought the quality of the picture of this film was really great!
